Nitrogen‐Doped Electrocatalysts, and Photocatalyst in Water Splitting: Effects, and Doping Protocols

Water splitting has been widely studied since the reaction affords hydrogen as an energetic pollutant-free fuel from most abundant molecule. Electrolysis, and photolysis of water are reliable pathways for generation in green conditions, which a catalyst is charge transformation, manipulation its structure predominantly impresses rate. In this review, we concentrated on impacts nitrogen doping activity electrocatalytic photocatalytic splitting. Increasing conductivity, formation new edges evolution reaction, elevating surface area by prohibition aggregation support, enhancing transition metal deposition into reducing activation energy proton evolution, shrinking bandgap photocatalysts, increasing light harvesting, retarding charges recombination significant results catalysts. Moreover, syntheses procedures were summarized herein to provide comprehensive view process.
